Creating a culture of care.

EST 2003

It’s  amazing how stress and tension can affect the ability to make sound decisions in a corporate world. A stress-free body is a stress-free mind – and that’s our speciality.  For an investment from just 5 minutes out of your busy day we will relax those muscles that are contributing to a lacklustre performance and through our corporate coaching sessions, strive to inspire you to reach your goals.

Stress initially evolved as an adaptive, even protective process, ensuring our survival. Problems arise when the stress response is inappropriately activated or continues for too long. When the stress response overstays its welcome, the very systems and processes designed to protect us from a momentary threat or that help us cope with a short-term challenge become damaging in the long term, causing disruption and imbalance in the body, mind and soul.

As well as educating employees on stress, businesses have been more innovative in their approach to improving this, such as having a life coach that is readily available should they need one, provide onsite exercise equipment and providing relaxation areas. Some companies even have massage therapists on hand on a monthly basis to reduce stress levels.

“The cure of the part should not be attempted without treatment of the whole” – Plato

Does your company suffer from high absenteeism due to stress-induced illnesses like colds, flu, migraines, headaches and stomach ailments – which in turn affects your bottom line?

These common ailments are usually brought on by prolonged stress, which lowers the immune system.

Make a worthwhile investment in your company, by investing in the wellbeing of your staff with one of the following tailor-made services.

Workplace Chair Massages

Through rejuvenating, stress-releasing workplace chair massage therapy, CREATIVE TOUCH helps bring some balance back into the corporate space.

The 5, 15 or 20 minute massage takes place at the employee’s desk. This is long enough to start the healing process, without taking employees away from their work for too long.

The massage helps drain toxins from the body, as well as releasing feel good endorphins that result in a more relaxed body, mind and soul.

Apart from stress relief, other benefits to the employee include the lowering of anxiety, improved wellbeing and improved work performance. Similarly, there are numerous benefits for the employer, which include improved productivity, increased job satisfaction and reduced absenteeism.

Corporate Coaching

Health is a positive state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. A healthy working environment is one in which there are an abundance of health-promoting conditions.

When pressure becomes unmanageable due to high workloads, interpersonal relationship or a lack of work-life balance, it leads to stress which can damage employees’ health and business performance. A fundamental human need is recognition and respect. Being appreciated increases motivation and satisfaction as well as promoting health and well-being.

Our business and personal lives are interconnected, therefore our coaching sessions offer a holistic focus. We provide individuals with a supportive space in which to gain clarity. We help our clients turn their obstacles into opportunities to find creative solutions that lead them to attaining their goals.

In this way, the foundation is laid for a more stable and holistic program for managing organisational stress.

Why Creative Touch

In today’s fast-paced life, our long working hours can lead to loneliness and people becoming touch-starved. Touch is the first sense we acquire which helps us to establish trust. Positive touch stimulates the release of the hormone oxytocin (known as the ‘cuddle’ hormone), which increases trust. When the experience is shared it builds a sense of community within the workplace which strengthens both an individual and a groups protective factors (e.g. coping skills, feeling supported and understood) which plays a part in an individual’s well-being. In addition, the Touch Research Institute cites that when pressure receptors in the skin are stimulated, the stress hormone is lowered.

Employees become familiar with the soothing, calm and caring voice of the therapist. Interaction between them allows the therapist to judge the intensity of the massage and address specific problem areas. The massage helps drain toxins from the body, as well as releasing feel-good endorphins. This results in a more relaxed body, mind and soul.

  • According to a recent American Workplace Study, 80% of workers feel stress on the job, nearly half say they need help in learning how to manage stress and 42% say their co-workers need such help
  • Job stress is more strongly associated with health complaints than financial or family problems
  • Numerous surveys and studies confirm that occupational pressures and fears are the leading source of stress
  • 65% of workers said that workplace stress has caused difficulties and more than 10% described these as having major effects (2000 Integra Survey)
  • Workplace violence has also become a serious problem due to stressful working environments – “desk rage” and “phone rage” have become increasingly common terms
  • According to a survey of 800 000 workers in over 300 companies, the number of employees calling in sick because of stress has tripled over the last decade
  • A 1992 United Nations Report labelled job stress as “The 20th Century Disease” and a few years later the World Health Organisation said it has become a “Worldwide Epidemic”
  • Occupational pressures are believed to be responsible for workers suffering from back pain, stress, tiredness and headaches
  • Job stress is costly due to accidents, absenteeism, employee turnover, diminished productivity, direct medical costs, legal costs, insurance costs, workers compensation, etc.

Our Values

At CREATIVE TOUCH we believe in creating a culture of care. We aim to be recognised as world-class pioneers in Employee Assistance Programmes and related Stress Relief products and services. We want to be the first choice a company makes when seeking wellbeing for their staff.

As therapists, we value our own time with a balanced lifestyle, so that we can in turn offer the best service. “We know that positive emotions like appreciation and care promote health, better performance and wellbeing. After all, what people really want, is the human touch” – Rosalia Cranfield, owner.

How We Work

Our rates are charged per treatment and not per hour allocated. All therapists are uniformed and easily identifiable in the workplace with allocated employee areas to cover.

Rosalia Cranfield – Owner

Rosalia is a massage and beauty professional with over 25 years’ experience in the wellbeing industry. Presently, she owns and manages a corporate massage business, overseeing a team of therapists who work at various companies throughout Cape Town. Rosalia also works with international leisure guests, having built up a client base through her work in the hospitality industry.

Rosalia has completed a Diploma in Coaching as well as a Bachelor of Applied Social Science in Psychology (SACAP). Through her studies she has developed an interest in the school-to-work transition process for young women and would like to facilitate this process on an individual and a community level.

Rosalia has coached hospitality staff and is currently facilitating groups for the elderly and adolescents. In addition, she coaches and counsels individuals who are committed to making positive changes in their lives.

The Team

With a wide range of training (some of our team are trained beauty therapists or somatologists, whilst others are massage therapists specifically), we deliver a high quality and professional in-office experience. Please contact us should you wish to be a part of our dynamic and professional team!

The cure of a part should not be attempted without treatment of the whole. No attempt should be made to cure the body without the soul, and if the head and body are to be healthy you must begin by curing the mind, for this is the greatest error of our day in the treatment of the human body, that physicians first separate the soul from the body”. – Plato

Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility is very important to us. By supporting previously disadvantaged individuals who have the passion and drive, but have not had the opportunity to learn, we provide potential candidates with the necessary training as well as the opportunity for employment.

CREATIVE TOUCH provides matriculants in the Cape Town area with the opportunity to gain experience in the wellness field. Young women interested in the beauty profession are upskilled by learning about the industry and how to put this knowledge into practice, not only in their careers but in their personal lives too. Trainees learn how to do a basic massage, gradually moving on to manicures and pedicures as well. Continued support is offered, both through the business as well as through their peers to help them continue moving forward.

Please note: This is not a beauty diploma, trainess learn basic techniques. Our aim is to understand these young women and their communities and to provide them with support as well as employment in the future.

Cambridge University Press staff always go the extra mile and I like to think that we treat them like family. One small way in which we show our appreciation is by getting CREATIVE TOUCH to come into our offices and give all staff a 20 minute massage while seated at their desks .It is so wonderfully relaxing and stress-relieving and the staff really look forward to it. Rose Cranfield is extremely professional and has become a real friend to us. I would highly recommend CREATIVE TOUCH to any company.

CREATIVE TOUCH’S one-on-one interaction provided me with a ‘wellness moment’. I realised that whilst our employees need to take accountability for their own wellbeing, we as employers need to be responsible for managing their wellness in the workplace. CREATIVE TOUCH’S Workplace Chair Massage provides a unique and beneficial EAP opportunity.
